I recently had fillings done and a cleaning at this office and had a great experience. Dr. Johnson was by far the most thorough dentist I’ve ever been to, he was very knowledgeable and genuinely kind. He took the time to explain everything he was doing, and made sure I was comfortable throughout the entire visit. The dental hygienists are also amazing! I also appreciated that I didn’t feel upsold or pressured into unnecessary treatments, which is unfortunately rare to find. He has always been very patient with me and explains things in terms I can understand. When walking through the door you are always greeted by Tien and/or Cynthia and both are wonderful and so helpful! The dental assistants, Kelsi and Valena are friendly and knowledgeable and I CANNOT forget Christie, my Hygienist. She is so kind and efficient and very good at what she does. It is so refreshing after having gone to a few places that seemed really scammy. The office is very clean as well which is a huge plus in my book. I usually write positive reviews, but my experience with Dr. Porter was frustrating. While the dental work turned out great—he matched my front crowns well—his attitude was problematic. When I arrived and informed them I wanted a different procedure, he threw what I can only describe as a tantrum, telling me to “go somewhere else” and appearing visibly upset. I realize I should have called in advance to change the 4-hour booking—that was my mistake and I will own that. Still, his outburst and guilt-tripping made the appointment uncomfortable. Though he later apologized, it felt insincere, and I left feeling more like an inconvenience than a valued patient. Being a professional means more than being good at your craft, it means treating people with respect and dignity and Dr. Porter does not possess those skills in the slightest. A professional would have understood my position and worked WITH me to make me more comfortable and helped to address my qualms and reservations, certainly not shamed me into doing something for which I was not prepared. Edit: Dr Porter called me today and offered a much more sincere apology. It takes a big person to own up to their mistakes and I truly believe he was acting out of character yesterday. He offered empathy and made sure I was feeling ok (both physically and mentally). I'm changing from a 2 star to a 4 star. Thank you for reaching out.Posted on Google

The staff have all been extremely professional, communicative and attentive to my experience as a patient. I've seen Dr. Greg Johnson and he is an excellent clinician - he explains everything clearly, is patient with any questions you might have, and gentle when doing procedures. She’s so gentle with my deep dental cleaning and kept the cleaning session interesting since she is very approachable and social. Everyone really - has been nothing but sweet to me. The place is so clean and they keep it so organized with appointment text reminders. Always willing to accommodate your schedule too. I do fear that their semi-recent expansion resulted in a small reduction in personal customer service and convenience - as one might expect when they doubled their capacity. Still a good experience but too many long periods staring at the wall between initial escort to the room, the hygienist’s work and the dentist’s short visit. Just constructive criticism. I was a little unsure about the new dentist because I like Dr Porter SO MUCH! Dr Porter is a skilled, kind dentist. But the new guy is amazing too and my six year old is over the moon about him. She has seen him twice now. He always jokes about putting on his green hands and other funny stuff during her check ups. He is so good with kids and after todays visit she said “Mom I was shy today but I really like hanging out with him” haha. The building has expanded and updated recently and this is a beautiful, top notch facility. I whitened my teeth today and the results are fantastic. One treatment and so white! I was heading out of town for three weeks and needed the stitches removed before I left. Can’t say enough about how good their dental practice is. Definitely a 5 star rating! Phillip June 2023 Dr. Johnson and staff started restorative work on my teeth this morning starting at 7:30. We ended at about 3 PM after a long day of work in the chair. My compliments go out to Dr. Johnson having the fortitude to sit for such a long time working on my teeth and kudos to Kelsey and the other staff who maintained a tag team match concept in which they slipped in and out keeping everybody fresh. Although I was somewhat apprehensive about this process, the staff were super in telling me beforehand how things were going to go. Lol. Dr. Porter has recently expanded his practice from just a few years ago when I first met him. The lobby is comfortable and inviting. He does everything he can to put you at ease. The dental hygienist are caring, thoughtful and mindful, especially Susan. She is priceless. I have NEVER had a bad experience here. So nice to feel at home at the dentist. The staff is very friendly and Dr. Porters assistants are making sure I’m comfortable with a tv to watch and headphones and even a blanket. They are very attentive! Dr. Porter does a great job and by the time the numbness wears off, I’m feeling pretty normal again. They also have the latest technology and I love that when I get a crown, I get it all in one visit and don’t have to have a temporary crown. It’s so much more convenient. Swai D13 October 2022I have always dreaded going to the dentist in part because I did not have good dental care when I was younger and in part because I’ve had very negative experiences with dentists. When I finally found Dr. Johnson and Avenues Dentistry, it had been after receiving several dental procedures from various dentist in the region with stellar reviews that I researched fairly extensively. I realize now how poorly executed my previous dental procedures were after Dr. Johnson spent nearly two years correcting poor dental work. The Avenues dentist office is immaculate. It’s very clean and modern. Dr. Johnson and the staff do everything they can to make a dentist appointment be as comfortable as a dentist appointment can be. Dr. Johnson is very thorough and reviewed my x-rays and teeth so closely that he was able to put together an effective dental plan regiment over the past two years that has nearly addressed all my current dental problems and preventative measures for potential dental problems. Sometimes there’s a concern that dentist are simply upselling procedures. But Dr. Johnson is very comprehensive and honest in his analysis about what dental care in his professional opinion will be the best course of action. I have followed all his advice and suggested procedures, and each time, my mouth has felt better and looks better. I notice the difference in my teeth. He’s earned my trust in his advice. He’s clearly passionate about his craft and cares enough to be thorough in his examinations. He’s extremely professional, personable and kind, which has not always been my experience with dentist. He reaches out to check on my health after procedures. The quality of care is very noticeable. I absolutely recommend him. He is the best dentist I have every seen. I’m a fan!Posted on Google

I was DREADING having to go to a “real dentist” but everyone at Avenues is so kind, incredibly helpful, and the office is super clean. The staff here were awesome and so was Dr. Porter. I can’t give them enough thanks for saving my vacation. Sadly, this dentist found problems with my teeth that my family dentist apparently missed when I saw him about three months ago, not to mention noticing that a crown previously done by my family dentist “appears to be broken and will eventually need replacing because it will continuously be catching food”. I don’t think it’s actually broken because it’s been catching food ever since he put it in!! Needless to say, I can’t afford to permanently move to Utah, but I will DEFINITELY be changing our family dentist! These folks were great and are using some of the latest technologies to make the whole going to the dentist process almost painless. Joli Perez2 September 2020Avenues Dentistry was recommended by neighbors on the NextDoor App. I found the dental hygienists and the dentist Dr. Porter to be very knowledgeable and skilled. They listened to my concerns and issues. The hygienist was very good and carefully cleaned my sensitive teeth. Their offices are very clean and a beautiful too. I also loved the ceiling tv to distract and the natural lighting. It was a very good visit. I like that they are taking precautions during Covid-19 and I felt very safe. 10/10 would recommend!Posted on Google
sarah carden27 August 2020Finding a new dentist is not my favorite thing, so when it came time to get my daughter’s cavities filled, I just googled ‘dentist slc’ and Avenues Dentistry popped up. The website was easy to navigate, and I saw that new patient exam/cleaning was under $100, so I figured I’d give them a call and see if they could fit us in. Not only were they able to get us in quickly, but everyone we dealt with was incredibly helpful, friendly, thorough, and overall it was probably the best experience we’ve ever had at the dentist. Although I do have insurance, I didn’t think it was active yet, so I was planning on paying out of pocket, but the woman at the check-out desk said she’d run it just in case, and wouldn’t you know it, the visit was covered, I only had to pay the co-pay!
